Bali is home to a number of volcanic mountains at the center of the island, which is where its coffee growing region is, most notably between the volcanoes of Agung and Beratan. Coffee cultivation in Indonesia began in the late 1600s and early 1700s with the arrival of the Dutch and eventually made its way to Bali. The original cultivar was Typica, and Bourbon, a natural mutation of Typica was also introduced. Subak Abian is a traditional farming system based on Hindu philosophy. In line with this philosophy, the three causes of happiness are good relations with God, other people, and the environment. This is why organic coffee production is favored under this system.

  • This medium (full city/+) roasted Blue Bourbon coffee is smooth and somewhat syrupy on the tongue. It has spiced dark chocolate notes with a nutty hint of almonds. With lighter roasts, this sometimes includes hints of vanilla and citrus due to its terroir, since the coffee trees are often shaded using orange and other fruit trees. It’s a high-quality arabica prized for its complex taste profile and sweetness. It ranges from medium-body to full-body depending on region and often exhibits an earthier and smoky taste as the green beans age.

  • Please understand that while the shipping choice you select will give an approximate delivery time, your order still needs to be roasted first, rested, then packed and shipped. For example, if you choose USPS Priority flat rate and it takes 3 days for delivery, you will need to add at least 4 days to this so it will take about 7 business days for you to receive your coffee from the time of order.
